The traditional way. Our style. Our way.

Something random

Just an old random sketch of some random character as requirement from a workshop back in 2009. We were told to make 2 characters of varying expressions, and different facial structures.

All of mine were non-human. XD

This was the only one I liked though.

Speaking of facial structures, I want to work on those more.

May also start on Maraverde again as soon as my hands stop trembling from the medicines I take for my asthma.

I intend to work seriously on Maraverde so my progress may be slow and not think of a deadline I need to catch up on.... coz, there is no deadline. Unless I consider next year's summer since there's this huge komikon event...

Must not think about it.... >.<

ICCON

We're thinking of going to this convention with fellow artists.

The plan at first was to register for a booth but they have some certain requirements that were a tad too pricey for our pockets, so we'll settle for scoping out the event as it being the first one ever in Iloilo, my birthplace~

Hope we do get to go.^^

ManHua Comic Festival

Super late update!

This is the cover of our first release during the ManHua Fest last March 2012.

We went under the group BLANK PAGE Indie Comic Circle.

Consider this our debut as comic artists in Bacolod City.

I'm not posting the pages here, even as a teaser. There are only 18 comic pages plus the cover, so there's not much to show as a teaser sample.

The comic was a rather rushed up job as we were somewhat pressured to join in the ManHua Fest to fill in the slots for artist exhibitors. Hoping to improve on this when we do manage to work on the next release...... after we get our second set of eyes. TT^TT

I need glassess.... and so does Slackerlord.^^;

Gift Art 1

A gift art for Kai Raito (username) cosplaying as the Medicine Seller in Mononoke.

My first manganized version of him was supposed to be his cosplay of Ciel Phantomhive but I had habit of leaving my unfinished drafts, sketches, or drawings on the table near a window. It must have been blown by the wind as next I found it ---- in several pieces ---- was on the floor with our dogs. TT^TT

So, this is like 2 years overdue. He requested for this first time I knew of him and when the cosplay era was just starting to grow in Bacolod. That's when I met a lot of the cosplayers.

Other versions SlackerLord tried out:

The first one was my suggestion. The second and third were her ideas.^^;

Uploaded the lineart and first thumb in our DA gallery. A higher resolution of the lineart can be downloaded HERE.

Commission 1

My very first commission in cash! So happy!!! XD

Got the request from a local cosplayer who goes by the name Banazure (I'm not gonna reveal his real name) who went to POTO-CON (Pearl of the Orient) as Sesshomaru. Fan girls were going crazy after him. I watched how he stood there while his family and friends helped him put on his costume bit by bit..... and it was a lot of bits for the character he went to portray.^^;

He won anyway~

Reference pic for the request.

The step-by-step process (in a way):

Started with the head and hair.
Next, went on to do the killer fur. xp
After the fur (which took me more than 2 hours) I proceeded to do the rest of the body.
And, voila~ Done!

Scroll up for the final output, its the very first image.

Afterwards, SlackerLord and I decided to do something with all that white space.... we butchered it. It looked like this:

We were never good with colors. And digitally ---- well, it always spells D-I-S-A-S-T-E-R. We're going to learn how to...................... eventually.^^;

First Commission

Not officially open yet but couldn't resist taking the requests in gaia online.

I went to ask in gaia forums the pricing range for my kind of art style --- there were several suggestions ranging from 50-100K for the head shots, 100-200K for half body, 250K and up for full body --- single character only. Other prices I got were as much as 800K and more if I offer them in color.

Unfortunately my coloring skill rates none~

I'm bad at it. I'd like to say I want to learn, and would have started learning if my ever so dysfunctional flash drive didn't go and corrupt the tutorials I spent hours selecting and collecting from DA.

Now I have to do it all over again!

I received 150K for above commission from Red Umbra. I got commissioned as soon as I asked around gaia's chatterbox. Instant reply. People seem to be more active there than in any of the forum boards.

My decision to open a commission shop at gaia still stands. Its gonna be there when I need the gold to use. The actual commission work is in RL with real money, which I'm still determined to push through as soon as possible. Already have a site put up and all just need to spread it around after this one event and my time clears up for me to be able to accept requests and get down to some serious business.

Crossing my fingers and fervently hoping----

Opening Commissions soon~

My sis and I are thinking of opening commissions sometime soon to help with things financially.

Its just a small start between 2 choices: Traditional (pencil) and Digital. Both in lineart.

Some samples we've prepared so far as we still have a few more to go:

Done with the digital samples. Will be working on the pencil sketches next. The buyer can choose between head, half body and full body for a commission.

For more details, browse through here: Yami & Mibu

Hope we make good out of it.^^
Much luck to both of us as this will be our first ever commission shop.

SAI Linework

Been feeling restless of late. Could be from the tension and the excitement this coming event on March 31.

To pass of my lethargy, I did a little something:

Based from SlackerLord's avi in Gaia online, one of her old looks.

Its an old drawing and every once in a while I like to dabble with my old drawings and do linework with them in SAI. Took about 6-7 hours, trying out the tools and what else I was curious about, and several more 'undos' than I bothered to count. XD

After this was done and saved, I noticed the textures I so painstakingly worked on for the horns disappeared. WTH! I'm too lazy to edit so I'm gonna leave it as is. And I also forgot the scales on her face and body... oh, well~

Pencil version:

Now on to finishing the remaining pages. Been really busy this month in more ways than one. I'm gonna fall flat in bed and doze off a day after all this is finally over..... and do the same routine again for the next event. XD

Page __

I'm working on it!

With just a very looooongggg break in-between.^^;

As much as I want to I'm a little dry in the imagination category at the moment. I'm motivated, but lack the ideas. TT^TT

Someone.... HELP!!!

2012, First Drawing~

First drawing of the year 2012~

Pencil and character concept by me, inked lineart and cover concept by my sis, SlackerLord.

Shoun Peracles, made him the main character for our indie, OROZ, that was supposedly for a March mini-komikon event, the first ever indie tiangge to be held in Bacolod. Unfortunately, due to unforseen RL situation, we can't make it for the event in time.... but we'll try to get something done within the year to get him and the rest of the cast on paper.

OROZ art is more detailed than any of our works and can be time-consuming. So we settled for a simpler artwork, and an old story. We revised it from the first version when it was released, Rain on Summer to Crazy Heaven, and returned its story to the original one with just a few changes. XD

And this time, we hope we can make it in time. TT^TT

Trad to Digi

It started off in pencil, couldn't help adding the lines to her sleeves~

The sequential conversion into digital lineart was done by sis (let's call her SlackerLord now^^). I would have done it but she insisted on finishing as she had other ideas with it as can be seen above.

Her 'look' was something to humor myself, and eventually used for a one page comic strip as a sort of mascot. There was a comic strip contest in ICI which SlackerLord thought we'd give a try in joining. The ones who win get to see their strips published within one of the issues. We were informed beforehand if we did get chosen, as we were immediately contacted just before the issue was published..... unfortunately, we never did get to see our strip in the release but we were told it would be there.

Anyway, the idea for her look was, as I said 'something to humor myself', but it came out as a way of representing me and my sister. We both look alike anyway, being twins and all-- long curly hair, the blackness depicts our often times dark humor; brooding eyes, as we tend to look bored and mean when deep in thoughts; and the unsmiling face, we smile only when the occasion warrants it. XD

The black, white and gray concept of the overall look, represents our style of work. Also means how we really suck at coloring. LOL.

We may have missed the chance to see a work of ours, the best or not, published in other issues aside from ours, but we hope to keep improving on that so anyone else won't be so quick to ignore our works in future.

For a glimpse of the comic strip, here it is:

We probably missed the humor we were aiming at. The incident depicted actually happened in real life, during ICI's very own official launching where we were one of the few sellers present. Try talking to a buyer with the band just ten steps away from your booth and the sound system directly across from your display~

I was the one who suggested to a friend she go upstage and have the band members sign their autographs, she guffawed when I handed her a Death Note. XD
